Consultations

Why do I need a consultation?

At Ayimaa, every skin journey begins with understanding your skin first. A consultation allows us to assess your skin, review your medical history and current skincare routine, and understand your concerns and goals so we can create a personalised treatment plan that's safe, effective and tailored to you.

Depending on your individual needs, your plan may include professional skincare, in-clinic treatments and, where clinically appropriate, prescription-only skincare.

Our consultation-led approach ensures your skin is properly prepared before any advanced treatments, helping you achieve the best possible results while prioritising your skin's long-term health.

What if I've been before and just want a treatment?

If you're a returning client who has visited within the last 12 months, you can book your treatment directly.

If it's been over 12 months since your last appointment, you'll need to book either a Skin Consultation or Consultation + Treatment so we can reassess your skin and update your treatment plan. Skin changes over time, and this helps us continue providing safe, personalised care.

If you're an existing client wishing to review your progress, refine your skincare routine or discuss the next steps in your treatment plan, you may also be suitable for a Skin Review appointment if you have visited within the last year.

Can I have a treatment during my first appointment?

Yes. If you'd like to begin your skin journey straight away, you can book a Consultation + Treatment appointment.

Where clinically appropriate, treatment can often be carried out on the same day. This may include an introductory treatment, or a more advanced treatment if your skin has already been appropriately prepared and is suitable to progress.

If your skin would benefit from further preparation before advanced treatments, we'll create a personalised plan to help you achieve the best possible results safely.

Are consultations redeemable?

Yes. Your consultation fee is redeemable against treatments or retail purchases, provided your treatment or purchase is booked within 30 days of your consultation. Your appointment itself can take place after this period, as long as it has been booked within the 30-day redemption window.

Facials

Why don’t you offer specific facials like ‘acne’ or ‘brightening’?

Because every Ayimaa facial is completely customised to your skin on the day.

Rather than limiting results to a single label, we assess your skin’s current condition and choose the right combination of enzymes, actives, and techniques to address what it truly needs whether that’s hydration, clarity, or balance.

This personalised approach means no two treatments are ever the same, and your skin always gets exactly what it needs at that moment.

Chemical Peels

Will my skin peel or flake afterwards?

Not always. It depends on the peel type and your individual skin.

At Ayimaa, we offer a diverse range of chemical peels, some with visible peeling and others with none at all.

Following your consultation, we’ll recommend the right option for your skin goals and lifestyle, and explain exactly what to expect during recovery.

Our Custom and Targeted Peels typically have little to no downtime, while Advanced and The Perfect Peel involve mild flaking or visible peeling as the skin renews.

Microneedling

Does microneedling hurt?

Pain levels vary from person to person, but most describe the sensation as light scratching or tingling.

For sensitive clients, a topical numbing cream can be applied beforehand to ensure a comfortable experience.

Why can’t I have microneedling with a peel on my first visit?

Combining microneedling with a chemical peel is an advanced treatment.

We always assess skin tolerance and barrier health first, so new clients begin with a single treatment (either a peel or microneedling) before progressing to combination options.

This ensures your skin is fully ready and the results are both safe and effective.

What are the benefits of combining a peel with microneedling?

A chemical peel gently resurfaces and prepares the skin, allowing microneedling to penetrate more evenly and deeply.

Together, they deliver smoother texture, brighter tone, and longer-lasting results by targeting both surface and structural concerns in one session.

Skin Boosters

When will I see results?

Most clients notice their skin feels more hydrated, smoother, and plumper within one week.

Full results continue to develop as the skin naturally regenerates and retains more moisture.

How long do results last?

Results typically last around 3–6 months, depending on your skin type, age, and lifestyle.

Regular maintenance sessions help to keep your glow consistent all year round.

How many treatments will I need?

For best results, we recommend a course of three treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart.

This allows for cumulative hydration and collagen stimulation, giving you long-lasting skin health and luminosity.

What is the benefit of combining a Skin Booster with a peel (Prep & Boost Plan)?

The Prep & Boost Plan pairs a gentle resurfacing peel with your Skin Booster treatment to enhance absorption and overall glow.

The peel refines and smooths the skin’s surface, removing buildup and allowing the injectable hydration to distribute more evenly and effectively beneath the skin.

Together, they create smoother texture, long-lasting radiance, and a visibly refreshed finish.

Treatment Add-Ons

What are treatment add-ons, and do I need one?

Add-ons are targeted enhancements that boost the results of your treatment like LED light therapy, Retinol Infusion with exosomes, or a brightening eye peel.

They’re not mandatory, but they can enhance your results, support recovery, or extend your post-treatment glow.

We will always guide you on the best add-ons for your skin type and goals.

Facial Assessment

Why do I need a Facial Assessment?

A Facial Assessment is essential because any prescription-only treatment requires a comprehensive face-to-face clinical assessment before a prescribing decision can be made.

During your appointment, we'll review your medical history, discuss your concerns and goals, assess your facial anatomy and movement, and determine the most appropriate treatment options for your individual needs.

If a prescription-only treatment is considered clinically appropriate, this will be discussed with you during your appointment and managed in accordance with current prescribing requirements.

Does my Facial Assessment have to be carried out in person?

Yes. All Facial Assessments must be carried out face to face.

An in-person appointment allows us to complete a thorough clinical assessment, review your medical history, assess facial anatomy and movement, answer any questions you may have, and ensure any prescribing decisions are made safely and appropriately.

What can I expect during my Facial Assessment?

Your appointment is designed to give you a clear understanding of the options available to you.

Following a comprehensive assessment, we'll discuss our recommendations and create a personalised treatment plan based on your individual anatomy, concerns and goals. Recommendations may include skincare, in-clinic treatments or, where clinically appropriate, prescription-only treatment.
